If the combined wisdom of Reserve Bank of India governor Duvvuri Subbarao and chief economic advisor to the finance minister Raghuram Rajan is a guiding factor, it may be too early to declare victory in containing the nation's trade imbalances with the outside world. The current account deficit (CAD), the excess of imports over exports, fell to 3.9% of the gross domestic product in the June quarter, from 4.5% in March. |

India has emerged as one of the top 25 leading exporters in the world along with countries like Brazil Mexico and Malaysia, WTO chief Pascal Lamy has said. "In addition to China, many new trading powers have emerged Brazil, India, Mexico and Malaysia are all in the top 25 leading exporters' table and all posted export growth of 15 per cent or better in 2011, " Lamy said at the Brookings Dialogue here. |

Germany today pushed for an early conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), saying it will be mutually beneficial and in line with the current reforms of the Indian government. The two sides need to shift to a final effort to get the FTA done. "It (FTA) is in interest of Europe and India," German Ambassador to India Michael Steiner told reporters here while replying to a query. |

A trade mission, comprising 50 delegates led by Washington governor Christine Gregoire, today signed a ‘joint statement of interest’ with the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government for collaboration on trade, commerce and culture between the two states. The current trade mission, which is on a reciprocal visit to a 25-member delegation’s visit from Andhra Pradesh to Washington to promote Brand Hyderabad in particular and the state in general in 2010, comprised 50 members, including 10 companies that are into information technology (IT) services business. |
