Wholesale onion prices slide in Maharashtra

The wholesale onion prices at the major APMCs in Maharashtra have declined by about Rs 2/kg during the last week due to the increased supply of new as well as stored onions. The downward trend in prices is happening despite the Centre lowering the minimum export price (MEP) to $250/tonne just over a week ago.

Haryana launches vegetable scheme

Haryana has launched a new scheme to increase vegetable production and productivity and market the produce through farmers' groups, dubbed the 'Vegetable Initiative for Urban Clusters', in Gurgaon and 11 other districts in the state. The districts, where the scheme has been launched, include Mewat, Rewari, Palwal, Faridabad, Jhajjar, Sonepat, Panipat, Rohtak, Karnal and Kurukshetra, which are predominantly vegetable-growing clusters, in addition to Gurgaon, said a spokesman of the Haryana horti

Karnataka government inks 42 agribusiness pacts valued at Rs 60,000 crore

The Karnataka government, on Monday, announced that it had been able to ink a total of 42 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) entailing investment of more than Rs 60,000 crore during the recently-concluded two-day Global Agri-business and Food Processing Summit organised at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
