TraceNet, the farm produce tracking solution, introduced by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has proved to be the biggest advantage for organic produce exports, according to industry sources. APEDA, which introduced TraceNet four years ago to monitor organic produce among other food-fruit produce from India, integrated all stakeholders in the supply chain of export of these products.

New liberalised visa regime between India and Pakistan is expected to almost double the bilateral trade from the existing USD 2.5 billion within a year, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry sai today. "Within one year of liberalisation of visa norms, the trade volume would jump to almost double," chamber's President Vikramjit Singh Sahney said.

India has sealed deals to export 176,000 tonnes of sugar to sanctions-hit Iran so far this year and a vessel with 32,000 tonnes of that, the last consignment, is being loaded at a southern port, trade sources said on Thursday. "Of the 176,000 tonnes, about 146,000 tonnes have already been moved out of the country. Most of these deals have been through Dubai-based traders," one of the sources said.

Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar on Saturday said that he would take initiatives to set up national floriculture research centre in or around Pune provided the state government allots land for the project. He was speaking at the inauguration of the golden jubilee year of The Rose Society of Pune on Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth campus in Mukundnagar in Pune.
