Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong 'Make in India' pitch today got the full support of his Thai counterpart Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha who said this concept can also be applied to drive the economy of his country. At a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN-India summit, Gen Prayut also had a word of praise for India's 'Act East' policy, saying it is important for the 10-member southeast nations grouping.

The government believes there will be some movement at the G20 countries’ meeting in Brisbane on Sunday and Monday on the stalled talks regarding a global Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and India’s demand for a parallel pact on public stockholding for food security purposes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to take up the issue with US President Barack Obama during one of their interactions during the Asean and G-20 summits.

Food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal informed the invitees at an interactive session titled ‘Towards formulating the action agenda for the betterment of the North-Eastern food processing sector’ that food processing industries in the north-east were a part of prime minister Narendra Modi’s Make in India mission. The session took place in Guwahati on Tuesday, and was organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj Tuesday sought investment from foreign and Indian entrepreneurs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), highlighting her government's "clear policies to facilitate business environment, transparency and speed" to "make India an investment and manufacturing destination". "Our focus is growth with good governance and transparency with an eye on manufacturing, infrastructure and trade," she said in an interaction with the business community in Abu Dhabi.
