British Prime Minister David Cameron, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Brisbane on Friday, said that relations with New Delhi are a top foreign policy priority for his country. In Mr. Modi's second engagement of the day after arriving in Brisbane, Mr. Modi met an EU delegation headed by Rompuy who conveyed that the 28-nation bloc is keen to "re-engage" with India in all areas, especially trade.

After a long hiatus, the Indian and American governments are finally going to hold the much-awaited Trade Policy Forum (TPF), to iron out several bilateral trade and investment issues, on November 25 here. US Trade Representative (USTR) Michael Froman, who will be co-chairing the high-level dialogue with commerce and industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will be leading a high-powered business delegation. This will be the first trade dialogue with the US under the Narendra Modi government.

Touting the Hemant Soren-led government as the worst ever regime in Jharkhand, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished to turn the state as 'central point' of eastern India. "Neither any previous government nor any government future would ever be like the one functioning in Jharkhand. It's the worst ever regime in the state," Singh told a press conference in Ranchi.

India has yet another fight on its hands at the World Trade Organization (WTO) over food subsidies. Many developed nations are now questioning the agriculture subsidies notified by India, charging that the country may have under-stated the actual figures. India’s decision to notify the subsidies in US dollars rather than the rupee is particularly under the scanner. India’s classification of all farmers as low-income or resource-poor India’s classification of all farmers as low-income or resource-poor, thereby lowering its notified trade-distorting subsidies (called the aggregate measurement of support or AMS), has been strongly challenged by Japan and the US.
