Terming the country's economic transformation as "mind boggling", President Pranab Mukherjee Monday said India is undergoing transition from a developing to a developed economy. A group of probationers of 65th Batch of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) today called on the President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Welcoming the probationers to the Durbar hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President said all of them would start their career in public life very soon and he was happy that prior to beginning of their new assignments, their Academy has brought them to this historic building. |

The G20 has cited India among other countries for launch of major investment initiatives and for having a sustainable growth. A Brisbane Action plan released as part of the G20 communique also said that the state of the global economy calls for a comprehensive and coherent policy response that restores near-term demand, removes medium-term supply constraints and builds consumer and business confidence. |

Australia and India will push for a free trade pact between their countries, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday, during a rare state visit to Canberra by an Indian leader. Australia on Monday finalised a landmark free trade deal with China more than ten years in the making, significantly expanding ties between the world's second largest economy and one of Washington's closest allies in Asia. |

The Punjab government has appointed additional deputy commissioners (ADCs) as nodal officers for prompt facilitation of the projects and setting up of big and small food parks for promoting food processing industry in the state. Union food processing industry minister Harsmirat Kaur Badal said this while interacting with media after holding a meeting with legislators (MLAs), entrepreneurs and businessmen of the Malwa region here on Monday to highlight the central government's schemes for promoting the food processing industry. |
