The coming months are likely to see interesting configurations in India's foreign policy. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is looking at a November visit to China — with both governments keen to showcase it as a unique occasion where two premiers would be visiting each other within a calendar year. In the run-up to the visit, India is hoping to use the opportunity to work on some kind of a boundary agreement, which, if successful, would be a hurrah for Singh and his team.

US Vice President Joe Biden is to meet Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Tuesday, with trade and security on the agenda. The first US Vice-President to visit India in three decades, Biden began a four-day visit on Monday, accompanied by his wife Jill. Biden was also to meet President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday before flying to the country’s financial hub Mumbai.

Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar will inaugurate the India Dairy Summit 2013 that is to be held at the Hotel Lalit on July 24 here. The event is being organised by the Confederation of Indian industry (CII) in association with Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and with the support of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday brought down the period of realisation and repatriation for exporters of goods and software to nine months from earlier 12 months, a move which could shore up foreign exchange inflows. Last November, RBI had increased the time limit to bring in export earnings to 12 months, from 6 months at that time, in view of global slowdown.
