The Commerce Ministry today indicated that it may provide incentives to exporters in order to achieve the USD 320 billion exports target for the current financial year. "Since the European Union and the US markets are in doldrums, we are making our best efforts to achieve as much as we can. "We need special efforts that could be in nature of incentives, additional markets and making more efforts on market promotions," Commerce and Industry Additional Secretary Rajeev Kher told reporters on the sidelines of a pharma event.

World's two fastest growing economies - India and China -- will join hands to foster their economic power and counter dominance of the west in global trade sphere. It could result in India having high speed Chinese trains and Indian information technology experts working in China. The two countries would provide opportunities to companies to invest in their respective countries and share technological knowhow under India-China Strategic Economic Dialogue with an aim to achieve the trade target of $70 billion by end of this year and to cross $100 billion by 2015.

India has asked Iran to lay down clear norms for wheat imports from the country in order to avoid further delay by the Iranian quarantine department, which is yet to give quality clearance to Indian shipments. "We have said that Iran should specify quality standards that are linked to international ones for the wheat that they want to import and we will identify the exportable wheat accordingly. We do not want any more confusion on the issue," a government official told ET.

Boris Johnson will seek to emulate David Cameron next week when he seals deals with Indian companies worth tens of millions of pounds to the London economy on his first official trade mission. The Mayor of London will visit cities including Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi during a five-day visit during which aides say he will "bang the drum for British business".
