While global trade growth has plummeted in the aftermath of the economic crisis, India has managed to rather dramatically alter the pecking order of its key trading partners. An FE analysis has revealed that China and UAE have grabbed the major share of India’s trade from the US and EU, conventionally the country’s largest partners. |

The Indian government has agreed to reduce its Sensitive List, maintained under the South Asia Free Trade Agreement, to only 100 items from present list of 614 items by April 2013. Official sources in commerce ministry told The Nation that India will further lower duty on 514 items being imported from Pakistan, excluding them from sensitive list, and protect just 100 products of its country, keeping high tariff regime on their import. |

Myanmar and Indian entrepreneurs will meet at the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers and Commerce Industry (UMFCCI) in Yangon for business cooperation matters on next Monday, according to UMFCCI Tuesday. Aimed at promoting bilateral trade and investment of the two countries, Indian business delegation of Indo-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry will make discussion with its Myanmar counterpart on such business sectors as pulses and beans, timbers, sesame, pharmaceuticals, metal, tourism, construction, textile, automobile, clothing, livestock and agriculture, the sources said. |

The Punjab government is all set to make two Centers of Excellence for Vegetables and Citrus operational under Indo-Israel work plan collaboration, by March 2013. This was announced by the Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal during a meeting with the Ambassador of Israel Alon Ushpiz who along with his team of experts, which called on him here at Punjab Bhawan last evening. |
