India and China Wednesday laid stress on boosting economic cooperation -- by setting up industrial clusters and through a possible bilateral trading agreement -- as well as on maintaining peace on their border. A joint statement issued after talks betweeen Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said India and China are "poised to enter a new stage of economic engagement based on pragmatic cooperation and mutually advantageous policies and practices".

Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) system has facilitated good growth in foodgrain output and has made India a major player in the global market. “From a net importing country, India has emerged as a major player in global market and contributed immensely towards stabilization of world food prices,” said Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. Addressing the 8th national Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) conference, he said, “In the last five years, our agriculture exports have tripled from around Rs 80,000 crore to 2.32 lakh crore.”

The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), the Australian government’s trade, investment and education promotion agency, and YES Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to apply Australian experience to raise the productivity and exports of India’s food and agricultural sector. The MoU was signed by Nicola Watkinson, minister commercial and senior trade and investment commissioner – South Asia, Austrade and Nitin Puri, president and country head, food and agribusiness strategic advisory and research, YES Bank on Wednesday.

Bangladesh and India have framed plans to boost bilateral trade by increasing the capacities of 16 land customs stations and allowing the passage of vehicles through these points, officials said today. "We want to implement the decisions in a practical and time-bound manner," Indian Revenue Secretary Sumit Bose told a news briefing here along with Bangladesh's Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Mohammad Ghulam Hussain. They were speaking after a two-day meeting of the Joint Group of Customs.
