Agri Buzz : India's Non - Basmati Rice Reaches 30 Lakh Tonnes During September- February 2011-12

As per latest release from Ministry of Agriculture, India exported around 30 lakh tonnes of non-Basmati during the September - February 17, 2011-12 with the total export value of around Rs. 66 billion. Data revealed that India exported most of the non-Basmati rice to Africa at $370-$380 per metric tonne ( free on board ).

Punjab jittery as MP joins wheat producing states' club

As the start of wheat procurement from April 1 is approaching nearer, the worries of Punjab are growing. After Madhya Pradesh announced in Tuesday's meeting with union food secretary that it would procure 65 lakh tonne of wheat in the coming Rabi marketing season,officials from Punjab are worried lot, as more procurement in other states means glut in Punjab.

Indian Agro Ministry Assesses Supply Chain For Vegetables In 29 Cities

Baseline survey to assess the supply chain for vegetables has been completed in 29 identified cities under vegetable initiative for urban clusters and cultivation of vegetable has commenced in almost all the States.Addressing the Parliamentary Consultative Committee, Mr Sharad Pawar, Minister of Agriculture and Food Processing Industries said, “Vegetable cultivation has commenced in about 10,000 hectares under the scheme in the country.
