India, Afghanistan and the US have held a maiden tri-lateral dialogue here, discussing the situation in the war-torn country along with a host of other regional issues, including terrorism. "This trilateral marks the further strengthening of Afghanistan's cooperation with two of its key friends and partners who are fully behind the vision of a secure, peaceful, democratic and prosperous Afghanistan living in peace, security, friendship and cooperation with its region and the wider world," a chairman's statement issued late last night by Afghanistan's Mission to the UN said.

The food processing industry, currently the fifth largest sector in India’s economy, is showing potential for massive expansion, particularly in the export market, a report by FICCI and Bain & Co says. Costs of processing and packaging food can be up to 40% lower in India, than parts of Europe, making it an attractive venue for investment. Several multinational players are bringing in new products to capitalise on the growing demand for packaged goods.

India will ask Malaysia to revise the bilateral trade target upwards as the current goal of USD 15 billion by 2015 is expected to achieve by next year. "We have set up a target of USD 15 billion by 2015 but I am confident that the target will be achieved by 2013 itself. I will be proposing to my Malaysian counterpart to revise this target upwards," Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma told reporters here.

There are several areas of potential cooperation between India and Poland. Poland is proud of its innovative attitude. Sooner or later, Poland will also become a member of Euro Zone. It is important to raise the trade volume between India and Poland. This was stated by Prof Piotr Klodkowski, ambassador of Poland to India. He was speaking at a CII meet in Kolkata on Wednesday.
