Around 609 tonne of grapes grown in the state have already been exported to European Union (EU) member countries so far, despite the fact that export of grapes generally picks up by first week of February. Officials in the state horticulture department said that by the end of January 2012, the state had exported only 63.60 tonne grapes. Statistics released by Grapenet service stated that Maharashtra has exported 609.72 tonne grapes so far to EU member countries, mainly to the United Kingdom. Grapenet is a software, developed by the union government to keep track of grapes, from farm to the table.

India is set to deepen its ties with Latin America, where China has a marked presence, with External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid to visit Argentina, Colombia and Chile on a 10-day visit. Khurshid, who has been very busy ever since he became the external affairs minister Oct, returns Thursday after a four-day visit to Germany and Belgium.After a day's break, Khurshid is to leave for Argentina, Colombia and Chile, an official source told IANS Wednesday.

India-Pakistan bilateral trade can cross the $ 10 billion mark in next three years with the dismantling of business-related barrier, a senior US official said today. "If the remaining trade barriers were removed, India- Pakistan trade could jump to $ 10 billion per year, more than doubling cross-border trade within three years, and creating countless jobs," US Department of State - Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy & Environment Robert D Hormats said at an event organised by Ficci.

Bilateral trade between India and Slovenia is expected to double in the next three to four years, Deputy Prime Minister of Slovenia, RadovanZerjav said. "The bilateral trade between the countries is growing at 20 per cent since last few years was expected to continue in future," he said at the business summit 'Slovenia-West Bengal the Cooperation with India'. The current bilateral trade is 400 million euro, he said, adding that cooperation with India and the south-central European country is strong but would be enhanced in future with his visit.
