28 Dec 2011 MalaysiaFood and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards - NarrativeOn July 1, 2011 Malaysia imposed an on-site inspection requirement for foreign pork abattoirs. On October 1, 2011, Malaysia began fully enforcing new grading, packaging and labeling regulations on fruits and vegetables. On December 14, Malaysia notified the WTO regarding a regulation on halal certification and use of labeling. In July 2012, the Ministry of Health is scheduled to begin enforcing mandatory labeling of food and food ingredients obtained through modern biotechnology. Click Here

Pork product imports are only allowed from abattoirs that have been inspected and approved by the Department of Veterinary Services.
