Vietnam: Corn imports to double to 4.5 mln T in 2014
Nov 14, 2014

Vietnam will import 4.5 million tonnes of corn this year to meet 70 percent of domestic demand, more than doubling its 2013 purchase of 2.19 million tonnes, according to the agriculture ministry, the Vietnam Economic Times newspaper reported.

January-October's corn import has already doubled from a year ago to 3.69 million tonnes even though domestic output in 2014 is projected to jump 25 percent from last year to 6 million tonnes, close to the 6.5-6.7 million tonnes' total demand estimated for food and feed, the report said.
