Expo to focus on agri technology
Nov 14, 2014

A five-day long agricultural exhibition - 'Krishi- 2014' - is being held in the city from Friday with an aim to get the farmers acquainted with new technologies available in the farming sector.
Close to 250 agricultural companies across the country and abroad are participating in the exhibition which is to be held at Thakkar's ground, near the Maharashtra Police Academy along the Trimbak Road. The fair is being organised by event management firm Media Exhibitors and Human Service Foundation.
Around 300 stalls have been put up at the expo which will showcase agricultural inputs, machineries and new advanced technologies pertaining to farming.
Speaking to TOI, chairman of Media Exhibitors Sanjay Nyaharkar said, "This is the ninth edition of Krishi and our objective is to get farmers acquainted with various farming techniques and technologies to increase profitability. Around 300 stalls have been put up in the exhibition where companies across the country as well from Russia and New Zealand, among others, will showcase their products and services."
"This year, the theme of the exhibition is 'Youth in agriculture'. We are encouraging youth to make an initiative towards farming instead of seeking jobs. Farming is a profit-making business if one does it properly using various technologies. There is a huge scope for youth in this field. We are also felicitating 250 farmers from 350 tehsils across the state, who have made successful experiments in this sector and are making it profitable to encourage our youths."
Last year, 1.25 lakh visitors had attended the expo and this year, we are expecting around 1.5 lakh farmers across the country to attend the event, he added.
