Wheat production likely to touch 84 million tonnes: Pawar

Wheat production is likely to touch 84 million tonnes if current cold weather continues, Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said today. "I think if the current cold weather continues I won''t be surprised that the wheat production will touch 84 million tonnes," Pawar said in his speech on the occasion of Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri awards here.

India Culls 4,000 Poultry Due to Avian Influenza

The Indian government has confirmed an outbreak of bird flu at a state-run animal farm in the state of Tripura. A government official said Sunday that some 4-thousand chickens and ducks at the farm have been culled as a preventive measure.
