 Wheat production is likely to touch 84 million tonnes if current cold weather continues, Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said today. "I think if the current cold weather continues I won''t be surprised that the wheat production will touch 84 million tonnes," Pawar said in his speech on the occasion of Mahindra Samriddhi India Agri awards here. |

The Indian government has confirmed an outbreak of bird flu at a state-run animal farm in the state of Tripura. A government official said Sunday that some 4-thousand chickens and ducks at the farm have been culled as a preventive measure.
