Lower 18% Tariff To Give 'Competitive Edge' To Indian Agri Exports To US: APEDA. India’s agricultural and organic exports to the United States are expected to rise sharply after the interim trade agreement, APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev said at BIOFACH 2026. He highlighted that the 18% tariff secured under the deal is significantly lower than rates offered to other trading partners, giving Indian exporters a competitive advantage. Dev pointed out that India had already registered a 30% increase in organic exports to the US last year, even amid higher duty challenges. Despite temporary rate issues, US buyers continued sourcing from India, keeping trade relationships strong. With the revised tariff structure now in place, Dev expressed confidence that exports to the American market will see strong growth soon. Source: timesofindia.indiatimes.com |
