Indian pomegranates to satiate American tastebuds

After mangoes, Indian pomegranates will cross boundaries to touch the US shores as the exotic fruit has cleared pest risk analysis by US department of agriculture (USDA). USDA is expected issue a notification shortly after which pomegranates from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra and Gujarat will be exported to the US. Guar gum, golden commodity in 2011

In 2011, stock markets failed to shine and gold lost a bit of its lustre, though the latter ended with a 31 per cent gain. So, which was the commodity that gave the best returns last year? Rose market gains as rupee falls

The fall in the value of the rupee couldn't have come at a more opportune time for exporters of cut-roses - on the eve of Christmas, New Year. Valentine's Day too, is not far. "The rose export market is going to gain from the fall of the rupee ahead of New Year and Valentine's Day," said Jayaprakash Rao, general secretary, South India Floriculture Association (SIFA), an export body run by rose growers. Limited export buying amid arrivals drags onion

Heavy arrivals, particularly of late kharif crop, continued to pound onion in markets around growing regions in Maharashtra and Gujarat this week. “Arrivals have been huge in the last 3-4 days of the late kharif.
