External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid today met his German counterpart Guido Westerwelle who underlined the importance of making concrete progress for the signing of a Free Trade agreement between EU and India. Diplomatic sources said the meeting between the two Ministers held on the sideslines of the ASEM Summit here was "good".

Negotiations on a free trade pact between India and Canada are "proceeding smoothly" and the two countries are on track to clinch a deal by next year, an Indian minister said on Monday. Progress on the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), was reviewed at a meeting in New Delhi between Indian trade minister Anand Sharma and Canada's international trade minister Edward Fast.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) ambassador to India Mohammad Sultan Abdullah Al Owais called on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and discussed investment potential in food processing and production, tourism and export sectors in Madhya Pradesh. They discussed possibility of contract cultivation with farmers. The chief minister said that discussions will be held for direct Indore-Dubai air service with the Union Government.

Confident of concluding a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with India this month, Chile's envoy Saturday said the pact will diversify trade and double bilateral trade by 2015-end. "We are in a position to conclude the PTA with India by November. But we must consider the views of the different ministries and wait for their response. I am confident it will be done this month," Ambassador Christian Baros said here.
