Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is in favour of export realisation in rupee from countries whose currencies are stable and widely accepted. "Discussions are on for granting benefits to export realisation in rupee from hard currency nations, but not those with which India has land customs stations (LCS). Talks are also going on with RBI in this regard," DGFT Anup Pujari said here on Thursday.

The seventh round of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) talks between Canada and India, which was held in New Delhi, concluded Wednesday. Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, said that the talks were productive and successful. "Negotiations this week were productive and focused mostly on market access and related areas," the minister said in a press release Wednesday.

India, the world's second biggest wheat producer, may consider allowing more wheat exports soon, Food Minister K.V. Thomas said on Thursday."Inter ministerial consultations are on for allowing more wheat exports. The issue will be taken up by the cabinet soon," Thomas told reporters. India has been struggling to manage huge stocks, built up due to bumper harvests in recent years. On Wednesday, Farm Minister Sharad Pawar said the cabinet could take up the issue of allowing extra wheat exports.

As it gathers in New Delhi for a three-day meet tomorrow in Gurgaon, the Rs 12,000-crore Indian seed industry wants the Government to facilitate exports to tap the Rs 2.5 lakh crore ($50 billion) global seed business. It also wants the Government to give Income-Tax exemption and create conducive environment to encourage investments into the seed sector. “We can be a major supplier of commercial seeds to global markets having good ecosystem of seed production.
