Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said that, while the country's huge investible resources and large market gave it confidence, strength and stability, India saw international economic and technological partnerships as an integral part of its growth strategy. "This is an important objective of our political and economic engagement in our region and across the world," he said in his inaugural address to the 11th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in Kochi.

Nuclear, defence and trade cooperation will be among the issues of focus when Salman Khurshid visits France from Thursday, the first visit by an Indian External Affairs Minister to that country in a decade. "There are a lot of issues to be discussed...We have a very elaborate relationship on nuclear matters. And then there are defence cooperation agreements which are in the pipeline.

In an exclusive and candid conversation with India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), Mr. Anand Sharma , Minister for Commerce, Industry and Textile, Government of India, shared his views on the future outlook on the Indian economy - importance of the recent set of economic decisions, including FDI in multi-brand retail, the export policy, and the Brand India campaign at the upcoming Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) scheduled for January 23-27, 2013 at Davos, Switzerland.

India stands to gain more if it takes its South Asian neighbours along in its plans to integrate with Southeast Asia through processes such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), said an official of the Asian Development Bank Institute or ADBI. Noting that Asian regionalism is taking shape now than in the decades before, Ganeshan Wignaraja, director research at the Asian Development Bank Institute, said the process would be different from the European integration process of the 1990s that resulted in greater centralization of decision making and implementation of laws.
