Just over a year back, the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh signed the framework agreement on cooperation for development, which was universally regarded as a milestone in the relations between the two countries. The agreement provided the basis for an extensive engagement between the two countries for mutual benefit. A year has passed since then.

The Union Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textiles Anand Sharma today requested the visiting Lord Mayor of London, David Wootton, to convey India's commitment to ambitious and balanced agreement to the EU partners. Both the leaders also discussed the ongoing negotiations in India-EU free trade agreement, officially called as the Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA).

In a move to strengthen bilateral relationship by enhancing trade and investment, a delegation of Indian importers has welcomed the strong desire of the US to expand the business opportunities with India. A 12-member delegation of US India Importers' Council (USIIC), led by its chairman Milan Zatakia concluded their first trade mission to the US last week during which they met US officials and businessmen in Washington, New York and Maryland.

Lamenting that the on-off export and import policy of farm products is harming India’s perception as a reliable global trading partner, agriculture minister Sharad Pawar today said that the government is working on long-term export and import policy for farm products. The policy which Pawar said would basically merge the interest of the farming community with meeting domestic demands is being discussed among all concerned ministries.
