With an aim to rapidly increase trade with Eurasia, negotiations have started between India and Eurasian countries for a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), an official said Thursday. Russia and the central asian countries comprise the Eurasian region. "The negotiations have just begun on the CECA. It's roughly the same like foreign trade agreement and when concluded our trade with Eurasia will increase rapidly," Ajay Bisaria, joint secretary (in charge of Eurasia), ministry of external affairs, told reporters in Kolkata.

India is now Kenya’s top source market for imports ahead of its Asian rivals China and the United Arab Emirates, in what is seen as the clearest shift yet by Kenya to the East for international trade. Fresh data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics show the value of imports from India opened a clear gap ahead of the two in 2012 – the results of enhanced trade relations between Kenya and India in recent years.

Turkey today said it wants to double the number of flights from Delhi and Mumbai connecting the country to boost tourism and enhance trade and investments relations. "We want to double the frequency of flights from Delhi and Mumbai. We also want to start flights to more Indian destinations. It will help in boosting tourism sector in both the countries," Ambassador of Turkey to India Burak Akcapar said here at a CII function.

India expects to sign a "balanced and ambitious" free trade agreement with the European Union by April, an official statement said on Thursday. Chief negotiators for India and its largest trading partner will meet next month, capping a series of 15 rounds of talks, India's Trade Minister Anand Sharma said in a statement released by his ministry. "Loose ends, if any, will be dealt with at the ministerial level in April," Sharma said, adding "both sides expect to be able to close negotiations by April 2013".
