The department of animal husbandry under the Union ministry of agriculture is considering additional relaxation in the export of milk products. After the directorate general of foreign trade decided to pursue a free export policy for skimmed milk powder in June, it has now been proposed that export of whole milk powder (WMP) and dairy whiteners also be freed.

Luxembourg today pushed for an early conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), saying it will be mutually beneficial and in line with the current reforms of the Indian government. "FTA between India and Europe is likely to finalise soon, which will provide a big boost to the bilateral trade," Luxembourg Ambassador to India Gaston Stronck told reporters here.

Indonesia’s state procurement body, Bulog, has forecast that rice imports will be between 500,000-770,000 tons this year and that it is communicating with sellers in India and Vietnam because they are selling at cheaper prices than Thailand. Bulog usually maintains rice stocks at between 1.5 million and 2 million tons by buying from domestic suppliers or exporters within the region, favouring the former.

India is negotiating with Iran for exporting two lakh tonnes of wheat in December and 10 lakh tonnes annually for the next three years, Food Corporation of India said Tuesday. "Negotiations are being held with Iran government for export of 2 lakh tonnes of wheat in December 2012 and in the long run 1 million tonnes each for the next three years," FCI Chairman and Managing Director Amar Singh told reporters here.
