India is likely to get two new grape export markets , New Zealand and Canada, for the next grape season in 2013. Both new territories, if opened, have the potential to import around 18,000 tonnes of grape from India. Learning lessons from the residue issue in the 2010 grape season when Germany had rejected Indian grape consignments over traces of pesticide found on table-grapes, Agriculture & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has started looking for newer markets to expert the fruit and lessen the dependency on European for export.

The trade volume between Pakistan and India could increase up to the level of USD 10 billion after the trade normalization between the two countries, a new report has suggested. According to the official figures of Pakistan’s Commerce Ministry, the Pakistan Government is all set to give the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India from 2013, which would further increase Indian exports to Pakistan.

Talha Bin Habib and Shafiqul Islam Jibon The government will sign a contract with an Indian company to import 50,000 tonnes of wheat this week, a food official said. "We expect the contract to be signed this week with LMJ India," Director (Procurement) of the food department Badrul Hasan told the FE Sunday. The government move to import wheat is the ongoing effort to deescalate prices of atta and flour at the retail level.
