Union Minister for Commerce, Industries and Textiles, Shri Anand Sharma held meetings with Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Parkash Singh Badal and Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today to discuss the industrial projects in the states. Shri Sharma was accompanied by a high level delegation from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

Set to make its presence in international food market, the Centre has permitted export of J&K Basmati to US, Jordan and Saudi Arabia so that the farmers of the state could be benefited. "The Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, has permitted export of Sarveshwar Basmati of J&K to USA, Jordan and Saudi Arbia so that the farmers of the state could be benefited", Minister for Agriculture Production Ghulam Hassan Mir said here.

In a major development that will ease the storage pressure in Punjab, the government of India has finally decided to export wheat to Pakistan through land route. This was a long pending demand of Punjab. Making this announcement here today, the Union Commerce Minister Anand Sharma said that both the countries have agreed in principle on the issue and the final formalities will be completed soon.

The Finance Ministry will initiate talks with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on exporters’ plea for continuation of the flexible regime on repatriation of export proceeds. This was stated by the Financial Services Secretary, Mr D.K.Mittal, at an interactive meeting on export credit organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) here on Thursday.
