The 20th APEDA Annual Export Award Function is being held at NCUI Auditorium Building, 3, Siri Institutional Area, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi on 23rd November, 2012 from 4.00 p.m. onwards. In order to felicitate the exporters for their distinguished service in exports of Indian Agro and Processed Food, 45 awards are presented for the year 2010-11 in the following categories: Diamond - 01 Gold - 16 Silver - 14 Bronze - 14 The coveted awards will be presented by Shri Asit Tripathy, IAS, Joint Secretary, MoC&I and Chairman, APEDA.

Worried over declining exports, the government is likely to come out soon with a specific policy for shipments of value-added food products such as casein, sesame oil, peanut butter and wheat flour. The Commerce Ministry has circulated the draft Cabinet note in this regard and the final proposal is likely to be placed before the Cabinet for approval by end of this month, a ministry official said.

The government will shortly extend additional scrip benefits to exporters who have done exceptionally well in the current year despite tough global conditions. Scrips are freely transferable government vouchers available to exporters that they can exchange in lieu of import duty obligations. Government officials in the know said the idea was to reward exporters who have so far exported more this year compared with the same period a year ago.

India and China will hold their second strategic economic dialogue on Monday aimed at increasing engagement in areas such as infrastructure and high-technology sectors against the backdrop of the global economic slowdown, Indian officials said. Though the dialogue was not a forum to discuss the ballooning trade gap, one of the officials said the subject could come up in the discussions.
