Ukraine’s move to ban wheat exports from November 15 could trigger demand for the Indian grain. Wheat exporters see a potential rise in Indian shipments, though prospects for upside in pricing are limited as the market has already factored in Ukraine’s move.
The Ukraine export ban will definitely benefit us. However, it all depends on how the Australian crop, scheduled for harvest next month, shapes up,” said Anil Monga, Chairman, Emmsons International Ltd, a Delhi-based exporter. |

Eleven countries have received permission to export vegetables and fruit to Viet Nam, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD). They are the US, France, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Thailand, South Korea, Chile, Cambodia, South Africa, and India. Two other countries, namely Laos and China, are temporarily allowed to export vegetables and fruit to the Vietnamese market till the end of this year. |

Pakistan would reduce its sensitive list to only 100 items by 2017 and India will bring its sensitive list down to 100 items by 2013 under South Asia Free Trade Agreement (Safta). “This will allow five additional years to Pakistani business community to become competitive and prepare to compete against the Indian goods after liberalisation of trade regime between the two countries,” said secretary of commerce Munir Qureshi here on Thursday. |

Diversification in trade and cross investments are part of the opportunities worth working out in the “next frontier” of bilateral ties between Indonesia and India, an international seminar in Jakarta concluded on Wednesday. “We export more to India, so there is nothing wrong if our companies invest in India,” Indonesia’s Deputy Finance Minister Mahendra Siregar told the ASEAN-India Business Seminar for Progress and Prosperity at the Four Seasons Hotel.
