Russia and India are facing the task of doubling the trade turnover and bringing it to 20 billion dollars in 2015, Speaker of the lower house of the Indian Parliament Meira Kumar said, meeting with the Head of the upper house of the Russian Parliament - the Federation Council – Valentina Matviyenko. The delegation of the Russian Federation Council is staying in New Delhi on an official visit. For her part, Matviyenko believes that bringing the trade turnover between the two countries to 20 billion dollars is not the limit.

A 30- member delegation from African countries visited Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) here on Tuesday. The delegation from Liberia, Kenya and Malawi visited the institutes under the US-India-Africa triangular international training programme on “New Dimensions in Agricultural Extension Management.” The delegation comprised members working in different disciplines of agriculture such as extension, food security, animal sciences, farm management, aquaculture, etc.

Vietnam and India may replace Japan and Germany in the rankings of Hong Kong's top five trading partners by 2030 if the city's exports to the two countries continue to grow at their current pace. HSBC said yesterday that while the mainland and North America would remain the city's biggest markets for many years to come, Vietnam and India together would be the targets of more than 60 per cent of Hong Kong's export growth in the next three years, which the bank forecasts at 11 per cent per annum.

The arch that spans Asian Highway Number One as it passes through the border town of Moreh proudly announces India's friendship with its neighbour, Burma. The official slogan proclaims that India is "Looking East" and promises that the road will deliver closer integration with south-east Asia's fast-growing economies. It is an idea fervently supported by Washington, which hopes tighter ties between Asia's free-market democracies can help balance China's rise.
