India, China and South Africa have signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to boost trade, investment and capacity-building initiatives amongst cooperatives in three countries. The South African National Apex Cooperative (SANACO) signed the agreements with cooperatives umbrella bodies at the 3rd BRICS Cooperative Meeting that ended in Cape Town yesterday.

India-US relationship is "rock solid" but there are challenges in the field of economic ties that must be addressed quickly, a US lawmaker has said. Congressman Joe Crowley, Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian-Americans said this in his address at a fund-raising gala for Pratham, a Mumbai-based not-for-profit organisation. "India US relationship is rock solid as long as we make sure, we mind the gaps. Our security relationship is strong and is growing stronger. Our trade relationship is broadly balanced.

The Dean, ASEAN and High Commissioner of Brunei to India, Dato Padula Hj Sidek Ali on Tuesday said that ASEAN welcomed the decision of the Indian Government to send an Envoy to ASEAN. The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, announced the Envoy recently. The Charge d Affairs, High Commission of Malaysia Aida Safinaz Allias, said that Malaysia will have more trade with India. Addressing a seminar organised by Assocham, the diplomat said Malaysia would like to see increase in the items traded.

Bangladesh's state grains buyer received a low offer of $314.60 a tonne from an Indian firm in a tender to import 50,000 tonnes of wheat, equal to the highest price it has paid in tenders since the start of July. In the last tender, the state grains buyer got a low offer of $311 a tonne from Singapore-based Export Trading Commodities. The tenders are part of a plan by the Directorate General of Food to import 850,000 tonnes of wheat in the current financial year, up from around 350,000 tonnes a year ago.
