The World Bank has said Pakistan will benefit from granting the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India. The World Bank also suggests the two countries sign power transmission and trade agreements. The 293-page World Bank document -- Pakistan the Transformative Path -- presents a possible list of the 12 most urgent transformational reforms required to be taken by the Nawaz Sharif government and include the MFN status for India, the import of electricity from India, among others, The News reported.

The Commerce Ministry has asked the Finance Ministry to include export credit in priority sector lending of all banks to boost overseas sales. We have taken up this matter with the Finance Ministry. It will help exporters in getting easy and affordable credit from banks," Director General of Foreign Trade Anup Pujari told the agency. At a Board of Trade meeting on August 27, export promotion councils and industry leaders demanded the inclusion of export credit in priority sector lending, Pujari said.

India emerged as a top exporter of buffalo meat in 2012-13, with 50 per cent market share and it is growing. The commodity has been in the top three exports items in the agri commodity basket. This year, it could be a tough competition to basmati rice in becoming the top exporting agri item. The export, growing at 15 per cent per annum in the last decade, was $3.2 billion in 2012-13, while in April-May this year it stood at $578 million, according to data compiled by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (Apeda).

Exports and exporting professionals are important as they help in building a nation’s wealth by bringing in foreign currency, said Gourav Anshuman, Asssistant General Manager, Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. He said a sound export marketing strategy will help small and medium-sized businesses increase their exports . Export marketing was a key element in every industrial and service organisation, he said.
