Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today arrived here on a two-day visit during, which he will hold talks with his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra to outline the framework of a Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement and elevate bilateral ties into a "strategic partnership". Singh arrived here after ending his three-day visit to Tokyo that saw India and Japan reaffirming the importance of civil nuclear cooperation, while recognising that nuclear safety is a priority for both governments.

India will remain fully engaged with all key stakeholders from developed and developing nations to find a fair and balanced outcome at WTO Ministerial Conference to be held in Bali in December, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said today. The minister made these observations during his meetings with the outgoing World Trade Organisation (WTO) Chief Pascal Lamy and Designate Director General Roberto Carvalho de Azevedo in Paris, an official statement said.

A European delegation on an India tour since May 26 arrived in Nashik on Thursday and held meetings with around 50 industries. The delegation of the European Business & Technology Centre (EBTC) came to the city after visiting Delhi and Chandigarh, primarily seeking to establish joint ventures or collaborate technically with industries mainly in the agriculture winery and food processing sectors in India.

India, and not Europe, should enjoy the status of being Pakistan's largest trading partner in order to boost economic growth in the region, European Union Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark has said. Noting that the EU is Pakistan's largest trading partner at 8.2 billion euros, Wigemark said: "But Pakistan's largest trading partner should not be the EU, rather it should be your neighbours, in particular India."
