Exports From India Surge As Demands From EU And USA Grow

India\'s exports increased by 36.4% in December,2010 to touch the figure of $22.5 billion according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Commerce. This is India\'s best performance in 33 months and this increase has been attributed to the enhanced demand for Indian goods in US and EU.

FDI in agro-processing fine, but not in farming

Even as the Centre is mulling over allowing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail sector, Union Agriculture and Food Processing Minister Sharad Pawar on Wednesday categorically ruled out the possibility of FDI in farming.

Miyazaki culls 154,000 chickens at latest bird flu-hit farm

The Miyazaki prefectural government culled about 154,000 chickens Wednesday at a poultry farm in the city of Miyazaki after confirming the seventh bird flu outbreak in the southwestern Japan prefecture this winter. Aichi, Shimane and Kagoshima prefectures have so far managed to contain infections to one farm each, while the total number of chickens culled in Miyazaki Prefecture so far has risen to over 700,000.

Indo-African Summit launched at IIP, training in packaging of fresh and processed foods will be disseminated

In a bid to consider modalities for bolstering ties between India and Africa in political, social, economic, science, technology, trade relations, the Government of India has selected Indian Institute of Packaging, the premier packaging institute in the country, to conduct a 15-day Indo-Africa Summit, a residential training programme for packaging of fresh and processed food products.
