Promotion goes aggressive, lures farmers

Over 10 lakh farmers in the state have already taken up organic farming as a result of some aggressive promotion by the agriculture department. Of the nearly 6.5 lakh hectares under organic cultivation, 2.77 lakh have been certified and farmers have been branding their produce as organic produce.

India to produce 100 million metric tons of rice next crop year

World’s second largest rice producer India expect another bumper output this crop year and set a target of 100 million metric tons for next crop year. According to country’s agriculture ministry, this year India’s country's rice production is estimated at 94.01 million tons as against 89.09 million tonnes last year.

Govt mulls setting up clusters for growing vegetables

To address the issue of vegetable shortage at urban centres across the country, the Centre plans to have clusters for vegetable cultivation and storage. One such cluster would be set in either the capital city or any city with a population of more than one million in each state.
