India FTAs with Japan, Malaysia to come into effect soon: Rahul Khullar

The India-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which was inked on February 16 in Tokyo to remove tariffs on 94% of goods over 10 years will come into effect from April 1, said Commerce Minister, Rahul Khullar in New Delhi on Monday.

India-ASEAN trade will be reaching US $ 70bn in the next three years. This was disclosed here today by Sumanta Choudhuri, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in a curtain raiser press conference on India-ASEAN Business Fair & Business Conclave which is to be held from 2-6 March 2011 in New Delhi.

Food processing sector gets 576-crore FDI

The food processing sector attracted Rs 576 crore of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first eight months of the fiscal as compared to total FDI of Rs 5,344.22 crore, minister of state for food processing industries Harish Rawat told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Guarseed continues uptrend on export demand

Guar seed as well as Guargum futures continued to add to the gains of the previous week on export demand amidst declining arrivals in the domestic markets. Guar gum prices have breached its record high levels of $ 1700 per tonne made in the year 2000 and touched almost $2100 per tonne recently.
