The commerce ministry on Thursday notified revised remission of duties and taxes on exported products (RoDTEP) schedules for alignment with the amended customs tariff structure. The revision, it said, covers 194 tariff lines or product categories, including the addition of 142 new 8-digit tariff lines, deletion of 50 and modification.

The Department of Commerce has developed a structured Export Monitoring Framework which breaks down the national target into sector-wise actions across engineering goods, textiles, electronics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and services for India to reach its target of $2 trillion of goods and services exports by 2030-31, the government said Wednesday.

Rice supply is expected to fall this year as farmers cut planting acreage across Asia because of fertiliser shortages and soaring fuel costs from the Iran war, with an emerging El Nino also set to squeeze output of the world’s most consumed staple. Rice is central to global food security, and even modest supply disruptions can ripple through countries, lifting prices and straining household budgets, particularly among price-sensitive consumers in Asia and Africa. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization in April forecast rice output would expand by 2% to a record high in 2025/26.

Indian mango exports disrupted as shipping costs surge.
A grower in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, is holding 60,000 boxes of Alphonso mangoes, each containing 12 fruits valued at Rs. 3,500 (about US$42) in export markets. As of March 2026, shipments to West Asia have not moved due to restricted transit and higher insurance costs. Buyers in Dubai, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates have stopped placing orders.

Telangana has recorded a remarkable surge in exports under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, said Dr. Rekha Boyalapalli, Vice President of Telangana Pradesh Mahila Congress. According to the Handbook of Statistics on Indian States – 2024–25 released by the Reserve Bank of India, the state’s exports rose from $14,026 million in 2023–24 to $19,123 million in 2024–25, registering an impressive growth of nearly 36 per cent within a single year. With this achievement, Telangana has secured the 7th position among the top exporting states in India, marking a significant milestone in its economic journey.

A rapid expansion of High-Density Plantation (HDP) is driving a structural shift in Jammu and Kashmir’s horticulture sector, boosting productivity, modernising orchards and strengthening infrastructure, according to a report by NITI Aayog. Describing horticulture as a cornerstone of the region’s economy, the report notes that the sector generates around Rs. 10,000 crore annually and supports nearly 35 lakh people. With favourable climatic conditions, Jammu and Kashmir continues to be recognised as a major fruit-producing region.

Horticulture dept to open 10 potato procurement centres.
The Horticultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (HOFED) will open 10 potato procurement centres, one each in different districts, to help potato farmers in the state. After minister of state (independent charge) for horticulture, agricultural marketing, agricultural foreign trade and agricultural exports Dinesh Pratap Singh, on Tuesday, directed that potato procurement centres will be established across various districts and the procurement process be initiated without delay, the centres were inaugurated in Lucknow and Farrukhabad on Tuesday itself.
