The meeting focused extensively on the potential losses suffered by farmers in several states due to recent incidents of excessive rainfall, heavy showers, hailstorms, and other adverse weather conditions.

110th Meeting of Network Planning Group under PM GatiShakti evaluates key Infrastructure projects.
The 110th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) was convened at the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to evaluate infrastructure projects. The meeting focused on enhancing multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency in alignment with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS NMP). The NPG evaluated 02 Rail projects, 02 Metro projects, 02 Road and Highway projects for their conformity to the PM GatiShakti principles of integrated multimodal infrastructure, last-mile connectivity to economic and social nodes and ‘Whole of Government’ approach. These initiatives are expected to boost logistics efficiency, reduce travel times, and deliver significant socio-economic benefits to the catchment areas of the project.

Pulses & Ragi see growth as India records 36.22 lakh hectares under summer crops.
The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has released the latest data on summer crop sowing for the 2026 season, revealing an area coverage of 36.22 lakh hectares as of March 13. While the overall coverage shows a slight decrease compared to the 37.25 lakh hectares recorded during the same period last year, specific segments like pulses and nutritious cereals have shown promising growth.

India's oilmeal exports to China surged over 20-fold to 7.79 lakh tonnes in the first eleven months of this fiscal, following higher demand due to lower prices compared to competitors, according to industry body SEA data. Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA), however, said the exports could face a challenge going forward.

Horticulture conclave begins to promote modern farming.
A first-of-its-kind three-day national-level horticulture conclave, 'Bihar Nursery and Green-Tech Conclave 2026”, was inaugurated on Saturday at Gyan Bhavan in the state capital. Organised by the horticulture directorate of the agriculture department, the technology-enabled event is based on the theme 'Parampara Se Pragati Tak” and aims to strengthen the horticulture sector through modern technology. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Bihar assembly Speaker Prem Kumar said farmers in Bihar have become more prosperous and their incomes have been rising steadily. He said farmers can further improve their economic condition by taking up animal husbandry and horticulture along with traditional farming.
