Among hilly regions and Northeast India, Assam, Manipur and Tripura recorded the highest CAGR during the same period, though from a smaller base.

Indian mango exporter tests direct retail model in Dubai as demand grows.
CEO Rituraj Shukla says the company launched a one-month kiosk at DAFZ Food Hall in Dubai in mid-June, showcasing premium Indian mangoes flown in by air throughout the season. Located within Dubai Airport Freezone, the food hall attracts office workers from different nationalities at midday, allowing Rituraj and his team to test repeat purchasing behaviour.

Apple Mango Cultivation Succeeds In West Bengal's Malda, Raising Hopes For Farmers.
Apple Mangoes, also known as Rumani, could soon become the newest addition to Malda’s rich mango heritage. Once home to more than 300 mango varieties, the district now cultivates around 150 after many became extinct over the years. Following successful trials by the Malda unit of the Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (CISH), researchers say the South Indian Rumani variety is well suited to the district’s soil and climate.

J&K bets on Rs 126 Cr Cherry project after weather-hit season.
As this year's cherry season comes to a close after being hit by adverse weather, the Jammu and Kashmir government is pinning hopes on a Rs 125.93-crore project under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) to revive the sector by boosting production, reducing post-harvest losses, expanding exports and increasing growers' incomes. The latest season witnessed lower production across several cherry-growing areas due to unfavourable weather conditions. However, reduced arrivals in the market helped growers fetch better prices, partly compensating for the decline in output. Against this backdrop, the government is focusing on long-term interventions to strengthen the sector through the Cherry Cluster Development Project.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday pitched India and Australia as 'natural and trusted partners' at a time when the world is grappling with uncertainty, supply chain disruptions and an energy crisis, calling for deeper cooperation in trade, investment, technology, clean energy and critical minerals during his three-day visit to the country. 'The world is reeling with uncertainty, supply chain disruption and energy crisis at the moment. At this time, India-Australia must move forward as natural and trusted partners,' Modi said while addressing business leaders and investors at the Australia-India economic roadmap business event.

India, ASEAN assess progress of talks for review of goods FTA.
India and the 11-nation ASEAN bloc on Tuesday took stock of the progress of talks for the review of free trade agreement in goods between the two sides, the commerce ministry said on Wednesday. The India-ASEAN free trade agreement in goods was signed in 2009. ASEAN is a key trade partner of India with about 11 per cent share in India's global trade.

IMF sees India among fastest-growing major economies despite trimming FY27 GDP growth projection to 6.4%.
India remains among the fastest growing major economies, despite a marginal downgrade to its near-term growth outlook, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said in its July 2026 World Economic Outlook (WEO) Update, projecting the country's economy to grow 6.4% in FY26-27, down from the 6.5% projected in April, before accelerating to 6.7% in FY27-28, up from the earlier projection of 6.5%.

Meghalaya’s 10,000-tonne organic spice processing unit to benefit 5,500 farmers.
Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, inaugurated an ‘Organic Spice Industrial Unit (PRIME-HUB), North East’s largest organic spice processing plant in Bhoirymbong of Meghalaya on Friday. Developed at an investment of Rs.30 crore to significantly scale up production, the unit is designed to process over 10,000 tonnes of organic spices annually. The unit is expected to help 5,500 farmers across 112 villages to support sustainable livelihoods.

Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, today held a bilateral meeting with the Hon'ble Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Afghanistan H.E. Mawlawi Ataullah Omari and the accompanying delegation to review the existing agricultural partnership between the two countries and discuss new avenues for cooperation in agriculture, irrigation, livestock, agricultural research, education, capacity building and agri-trade. Senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) participated in the discussions.

India Hosts 13th ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement Joint Committee Meeting to Advance ASEAN-India Trade Pact Review.
India hosted the 13th ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) Joint Committee (JC) and related meetings at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, from July 6 to 10, 2026, to review the progress of negotiations under the AITIGA Review. The meetings are being held in a hybrid format. Meetings of three of the eight Sub-Committees under the AITIGA Joint Committee are currently being held on the sidelines of the 13th Joint Committee meeting. These include the Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation (SC-CPTF), the Sub-Committee on National Treatment and Market Access (SC-NTMA), and the Sub-Committee on Rules of Origin (SC-ROO). The meetings are serving as an important platform to deepen cooperation, strengthen mutual understanding and advance constructive dialogue between India and ASEAN.
