MoFPI strengthens modern jaggery processing infrastructure to boost sector growth.
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has stepped up efforts to modernise and expand India’s jaggery processing sector by extending financial incentives and infrastructure support through key central government schemes. Under flagship programmes such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), the Production Linked Incentive scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) and the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, the ministry is incentivising the establishment and expansion of modern jaggery processing units across the country. These initiatives are designed to encourage the adoption of improved technologies, enhance product quality, and ensure compliance with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations, thereby facilitating better market access and export potential.

Centre reviews implementation of PMKSY, over 1,190 projects completed.
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) on Thursday provided an update on the implementation and utilisation of funds under the flagship Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), highlighting significant progress in project approvals and completions across the country. As of December 31, 2025, a total of 1,607 projects have been approved under various components of PMKSY, of which 1,196 have been completed or operationalised, while the remaining 411 are at various stages of implementation. Delays in some cases were attributed to statutory clearances from agencies such as pollution control boards, electricity and water authorities and licensing bodies, which are prerequisites for grant releases.

Uttar Pradesh to promote sugarcane intercropping with pulses and oilseeds.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that the most effective way to give a new leap to the agricultural sector of the state is to implement ‘oilseed and pulse-based intercropping with sugarcane’ on a large scale. 'This model has the capacity not just to double but to ‘multiply manifold’ the income of sugarcane farmers,' Adityanath said.

Apple farmers in Kashmir Valley have begun releasing their produce from controlled atmosphere (CA) storage facilities, months after unprecedented rainfall and repeated highway closures forced them to stockpile the fruit amid heavy losses and market disruptions. Last season, a significantly higher share of Kashmir’s apple harvest was diverted to CA storages after incessant rains in August and September triggered frequent closures of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, one of the region’s key roads linking the Valley to the rest of country.
