Punjab, Haryana growers upbeat over boom in basmati rice exports.
A significant surge in basmati rice exports has growers optimistic ahead of the harvesting season in Punjab and Haryana. Despite the condition of the Minimum Export Price, India’s basmati exports saw an increase of nearly 25% in the 2023-24 fiscal, at Rs 48,389.21 crore.

Punjab agriculture minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Friday proposed to Union minister of food processing industries minister Chirag Paswan to set up a mega food park in Bathinda. India flags trade gap with China at WTO.
India has raised concern over its large trade deficit with China and the non-transparent subsidies and mechanisms followed by the latter, which it said lead to low prices and hurt the local industry.
