In 2018, Ukraine introduced a new approach to import controls based on the intended use of the product. These renewed certificates replaced older versions ensuring uninterrupted exports of U.S. products. In 2015-16, Ukraine deregulated some food safety import procedures and significantly modified its food safety legislation, introducing HACCP principles. Ukraine also introduced new international certificate requirements for food products and reinforced its legislation related to the approval of foreign exporting facilities. Created in 2014, the State Service on Safety of Foodstuffs and Consumer Protection became the national competent authority for all food products in 2016. Click Here
11 Dec 2017 UKRAINEFood and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards - CertificationA certificate for Non-Animal Origin Bacterial Products Exported To Ukraine was negotiated in 2017. The certificate satisfies one of the requirements of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and opens the way for imports. A broad range of products is covered in this report, including generic certificate requirements for products that have no bilaterally negotiated export protocols. In 2014, Ukraine canceled import permits for products of animal origin and feed. Ukraine significantly modified its internal food safety legislation introducing HACCP principles. Additional information on U.S. catch certificate for seafood is provided herein. A broad range of products are covered in the report, which also contains certificate requirements for products that are not legally exportable to Ukraine or products for which market access negotiations are in progress. Ukraine undertook an Administrative Reform and actively changed names and authorities of state regulatory bodies. Significant changes took place in the Conformity Certification area (see Section VI). Compulsory Conformity Certification for some food roducts was abolished (see Section VI). Ukraine adopted a few biotech laws but has several draft laws waiting for debate and possible amendments. There is a new biotech law on the registration of GM feeds, but implementing regulations are lacking. Information on Food Laws (Section I) was significantly expanded.
