Groundnut exports may touch 4 lakh tones

India's groundnut exports during the current year is likely to touch around 4 lakh tonnes, up from 3.4 lakh tonne in 2009-10 season, on the back of growing international demand that is supported by the crop failure in China. Groundnut year is calculated on the basis of the crop season, which lasts between November to September.

Now, online registration must for agri exporters

The Uniongovernment has made it mandatory for exporters of agricultural produce to secure an online registration code. The move will help generate daily reports of every exportable commodity, its destination as well as value, enabling the Union government to take appropriate decisions in times of shortage or glut.

Mexico: Exports mango to the most demanding markets

Although mango prices remain below expectations, Colima production has increased to extend exports, around 50 million boxes are exported to the U.S., Canadian, European and Japanese markets, said the packer José Anguiano Negrete. He added that thanks to the quality of the fruit, there are serious possibilities of increasing exports in 2011 to 5 million more boxes.

India announces new aid package of $500 mn for Afghanistan

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday announced a fresh Indian aid package of $500 million for Afghanistan with focus on social sector, agriculture, capacity building and infrastructure projects. "We have decided to make a fresh commitment valued at approximately $500 million over the next few years," he said at a joint press conference with Afghan President Hamid Karzai here after their talks.
