India is poised to triple wheat exports this year to a higher-than-expected, record 6 million tonnes, helping plug a shortfall in lower-quality grainBSE 4.86 % supplies and keep a lid on global prices. Five years of bumper harvests have created unruly, large stockpiles of wheat in India at a time when Australia and Russia, the world's second and third largest exporters, face shrinking production due to adverse weather.

The long pending negotiations for the India-European Union free trade agreement may finally move ahead with the EU’s chief negotiator scheduled to visit New Delhi this week, amid positive signals emanating from the 27-nation bloc.“We have got positive indications and signals from the EU. Chief negotiators of both the sides are scheduled to meet this week here,” a senior official told PTI.

India and Australia are currently discussing a free trade agreement between the two countries, a senior Australian diplomat said here today."Discussion on FTA has been happening over the last couple of years. That is still continuing...", Australian Trade Commissioner and Consul Commercial, Michael Carter said. He said the trade relations between the two countries has been growing steadily and in the last five years trade has "doubled" to reach Australian 20 billion dollars.

About 121 tonne grapes from Maharashtra has been exported to EU member countries. The harvesting season began just a week back. The state government and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (Apeda), which works under union agriculture ministry has developed an online platform Grapenet, where interested farmers registered their farms for export of grape.
