India Global conference on augumenting production and Uitilization of mango

Mango, the most important fruit crop referred as 'King of fruits', presents both rich genetic diversity as well as choice of varieties and  is closely associated with rich cultural and traditional heritage in India. There is growing appreciation for the fruit across the globe due to its medicinal and nutraceutical properties since  pulp is high in prebiotic dietary fiber, vitamin-A, polyphenols, carotenoids,  vitamin-C and vitamin-E.

Russian grain returns to international market

The country will start exporting wheat in August, nearly a year after fire and drought caused Russia to pull its cereals from world exchanges. As of July 1, Russia will lift its nearly year-long ban on grain exports. The ban was imposed in August 2010 following widespread wildfires and drought that caused a substantial decrease in the country’s grain yield and threatened a shortfall in Russian agricultural production.

New food safety law likely to cost India over Rs 15,000 cr

India will need Rs 15,000-17,000 crore in four to five years for implementing the Food Safety & Standards Rules, 2011, according to estimates by the health ministry. The Planning Commission is expected to take a call soon on the expenditure, which will be a component of the health ministry’s 12th plan allocation.

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has conceptualised an innovative training programme, funded by the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (DAC), Ministry of Agriculture, aimed at providing an in-depth understanding of agricultural business environment and evolve efficient strategies for enhancing the competitiveness of this sector at each level.
