Bangladeshi academician, Mirza Mohammed Azizul Islam hailed the recent visit of Indian President, Pranab Mukherjee, adding that it would strengthen the relations between the two nations. He also said, "The relationship between India and Bangladesh has always been more or less cordial. Now, the degree of cordiality may differ a little bit from time to time and in fact, you know, very recently, our opposition leader also paid a visit to India.

India is in talks with Egypt to export wheat, India's trade minister, Anand Sharma, said on Wednesday. "We are in talks but have not arrived at specifications like the volume of exports and other such details," Sharma told reporters after his meeting with Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi who is visiting India. India has been offering wheat from government warehouses to cut down surplus stocks and reduce the risk of wastage through damage by pests or weather.

India and South African nations are expected to conclude a preferential trade agreement by the end of this year, aimed at reducing tariffs on certain items traded between the two sides. The India-SACU Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) would enhance economic ties by reducing tariffs on several key products. "We are actively engaged in negotiations with Southern African Customs Union (SACU) for PTA and have covered 60 per cent of the distance as six rounds of negotiations have been done so far," Commerce Secretary S R Rao told the CII-Exim Bank Conclave on India Africa Project Partnership here.

Cote d'Ivoir, a West African nation, today invited Indian companies to collaborate with its firms in various sectors including energy, agriculture and food processing. "Indian companies collaboration with our firms will be a win-win situation for both the nations. There is a great scope for investment in various sectors such as mining, energy, agriculture and food processing," Cote d'Ivoire Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan said at a function here.
