Export Credit Guarantee Corp. of India Ltd (ECGC) will open its first overseas office in London to help Indian exporters recover payments from defaulters. Since 23% of ECGC’s business is in Europe, the agency will operate from London, said N. Shankar, chairman and managing director. “It’s not a branch but a full-fledged office. It will focus on buyer underwriting, getting information on buyers in Europe and other places and helping in recovery of loans,” Shankar said.

Egypt on Wednesday invited Indian investments in the country, and said it also proposes to establish a free economic zone for Indian companies. "There is also a proposal to establish a free economic zone for the Indian side and to invite the Indian companies to set up their industrial bases in Egypt, promote their products whether in the Egyptian domestic market or the neighboring markets and to take advantage of the commercial arrangements and frames Egypt has with those large markets," Egypt President Mohamed Morsi said at a business meet organised by industry bodies FICCI, CII and Assocham in New Delhi.

Terming the signing of an agreement between the BG Group and the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited (GSPC) for the long-term sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as one of the largest UK-India trade deals, Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister Hugo Swire welcomed the deal. "This deal is great news for the companies, for Gujarat, for the UK, and for India.

The ninth edition of India-Africa Project Partnership conclave, which started here at the weekend, is expected to scale up trade between India and Zimbabwe as well as create a new platform for co-operation, Zimbabwe's Ambassador to India, Mr Jonathan Wutaunashe has said. Ambassador Wutaunashe was speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the summit being held at the Taj Mahal Palace which opened with a record 630 registered delegates from at least 41 African countries.
