Exports of farm produce, textiles chemicals and auto components are expected to get a boost by the Pakistan's move to allow trade in more number of goods, Parliament was informed today. In March, Pakistan replaced its 'Positive List' comprising 1,974 items that could be exported by India to the neighbouring country with a 'Negative List' of 1,209 products, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

India has no immediate plans to curb exports of rice, wheat and sugar as a recent revival in monsoon rains will help some summer-sown crops, Food Minister K. V. Thomas said on Wednesday. "We can't abruptly stop free export policies although domestic supply will continue to be a priority," Thomas told reporters. India, the world's second-biggest producer of rice, wheat and sugar, has been hit by a drought for the first time in three years.

India has signed Agreement on Trade in Goods under the broader framework of Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) with Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) comprising Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

India’s biggest basmati rice exporter, plans to seek new markets in Africa to counter international sanctions against Iran and revive profit amid sliding grain prices. Rising demand among Indian immigrants and natives of Kenya, Senegal, Nigeria and Ethiopia for the aromatic, long variety may help reverse two years of decline in earnings, Chairman Anil Mittal said in a phone interview.
