Govt to take view on exports after finalizing Food Bill
24 May 2011
Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar Monday said the government will take a final view on lifting the export ban on wheat and non-basmati rice after assessing foodgrains requirement under the proposed National Food Security Act. Last month, Pawar had said that the government should give a serious thought on allowing export of wheat and non-basmati rice, banned in February 2007 and April 2008.

Trade fair in Addis Ababa showcasing India Inc. in Africa

Over 80 Indian firms are showcasing their products and services at a trade fair organised as a part of the second India-Africa Forum Summit that begins here Tuesday.The companies are showcasing their products, services, technologies, and processes at the event called India Show held in the Ethiopian capital, often called the political capital of Africa. Addis Ababa is also the seat of the African Union.

With ban on endosulfan, policy on organic farming likely to be out soon

With the prevailing countrywide ban on the production, sale and use of endosulfan pesticide by the Supreme Court and the continuing debate over it, a seminar to support “Organic Farming” was held in Bhopal recently, sources told FnB News.

Bumper litchi output likely in East Champaran

Hailstorms accompanied by heavy rain during the last three weeks notwithstanding, the East Champaran district is expecting bumper litchi fruits this season. Although this year mango trees bore little fruits due to a lean year, the loss is likely to be compensated with bumper juicy Shahi, China and Bedana litchis and its plucking will start from Tuesday.
