India-Africa food processing cluster soon, PM tells summit in Ethiopia

An India-Africa food processing cluster will be established soon. This was informed by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh while addressing the Plenary Session of the 2nd Africa-India Forum Summit Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Tuesday. The Prime Minister is on a four-nation visit of Africa.

India may export 70,000 tn of mangoes this yr: APEDA

India's mango exports are expected to rise marginally to 70,000 tonne this year on expectation of better availability of the export-quality fruit, according to the agri-export promotion body APEDA. The country is estimated to have exported 65,000 tonne of mangoes in the 2010 season (March-July), the provisional official data showed.

WTO warns on export restrictions, as G20 protectionism rises

The number of restrictive trade measures taken by G20 economies increased over the past six months, a new monitoring report for the period from October 2010 to April 2011 has highlighted.New restrictions on imports introduced by the economies over the review period covered around 0,6% of total G20 imports, up on the 0,3% reported for the previous six months.Export restrictions were also imposed mainly on food products and some minerals.
